ASDA Officers and Committee Members say "Hola" from San Antonio!
In a few days a record number of attendees will be in the great city of San Antonio for the third and final regional meeting, Western Regional Meeting! It’s hard for me to believe that at this time a year ago, I (like a majority of regional attendees) was headed to my very first national ASDA meeting. I didn’t quite know what to expect and was more concerned about being prepared for the drop in temperature as we landed in Chicago than being prepared to get the most out of my first national experience.
Luckily, for those headed to San Antonio this weekend I’ve not only ordered up some great weather and sunshine for your arrival (see the photo of our wonderful SA ASDA officers and committee members squinting to say hello), but also have a few suggestions to make your first regional meeting a success!
Before the Meeting:
Browse the ASDA website to brush up on the latest on the hot topics being covered at this session. As someone taking the dental boards in 2012, I know I am particularly interested in hearing about the NBDE changes on Saturday.
Ladies, pack a sweater! Even with the warmer temps in Texas, any hotel meeting room is bound to be a little chilly.
During the Meeting:
Enjoy the great speakers and events we have lined up for the weekend! Be sure to jot down a few notes and especially any great ideas or suggestions you might have to bring back to your chapter.
Exchange contact information at the exhibit fair to help you set up your local chapter vendor fair. Complete list of exhibitors here
Western Regional might just be the beginning of your exposure to the national level of ASDA. Be sure to attend the Leadership Reception on Saturday to learn more about the leadership positions and where you might fit in at the national level.
After the Meeting:
Spread the word! Be sure to take back what you learn at Western to your local chapters. Did you know under the events tab on the website you can access almost all of the presentations and even listen to recordings of some of the speakers. These are not only super informative but also great resources to present these topics to your local chapters.
If you aren’t able to attend one of the regional meetings check out the presentations page and it will almost be as if you were there.
