Future dentists head to Boston for ASDA’s Annual Session in February

GCA 2014

As you may already know, this blog is run by the American Student Dental Association. A little history lesson: ASDA is the largest student-run organization dedicated to protecting and advancing the rights, interests and welfare of dental students like you. Currently, there are 20,000+ dental student members and 1,800+ predental members. Each year, ASDA holds a national meeting called Annual Session. 2015 will mark ASDA’s 45th Annual Session!

If you are interested in networking with other future dentists, learning about professional issues and getting involved in organized dentistry, sign up to attend ASDA’s Annual Session at the Westin Boston Waterfront, Feb. 18-21, 2015.

The Gold Crown Awards include several categories and more than 45 awards. One section of awards is completely dedicated to media. These awards recognize chapter newsletters, websites and social media but they also recognize the articles members contribute to ASDA’s national publications as well. ASDA News and Mouth are rare among association publications. Many associations hire professionals to write their news and magazine but ASDA finds value in representing the dental student voice by soliciting volunteers to write nearly all of the content in ASDA News and Mouth (and this blog!). Read on to see the nominees for best news and feature article of the year.

Resolutions: How your ideas can become ASDA policy

Screen Shot 2014-01-02 at 10.21.54 AMWe’ve all been there. Sitting through what seems like an agonizing high school civics class when it happens. Even though most educational materials from 1974 belongs in either a museum or an episode of the Wonder Years, I think this one is worth keeping around.

As Annual Session 2014 draws nearer, I want everyone to think about how ASDA’s policies can more reflect YOUR voice, the member voice. Read on to find out how to get your resolution to Disneyland.
