I received these awesome Pantone toothbrushes in the mail the other day. They were a prize from the blog The Dental Geek. I really enjoy keeping up with this blog and winning a prize made it even better. It also got me thinking about revisiting the dental blog roundup I posted here almost two years ago. So many great sites have joined the dental blog community. Below you’ll find just a sample of what’s out there. If you have a blog or know of one I missed, please leave a link in the comments section!
GENERAL
The Dental Geekis about all things dentistry. From RDH news and dental marketing tips to giveaways like the toothbrushes I won, this site is a great resource.
Another resourceful blog is The Dental Warrior run by Dr. Mike. He is passionate about dentistry but also about personal security and blogs about both (explaining the “warrior” portion). If there is a dental issue covered in the media, the Dental Warrior is on it. This is a great place to go when you want to see how other dentists are reacting to certain coverage (e.g. his post on the PBS Frontline report).
STATE ASSOCIATIONS
Some state associations now have blogs too! The Washington State Dental Association has a blog hosted within their main site. The Oregon Dental Association (creators of the viral video “Teach me how to brushy“) runs a blog called the Tooth of the Matter. Be sure to checkout your own state association to see if they run a blog. This is a great place to stay in tune with state-specific issues.
STUDENT-RUN BLOGS
The class of 2014 at Oklahoma University runs the blog Gumby Get Down. It’s full of great pictures and recaps of all their chapter events. It sure looks like a good time and I bet it’s a great resource for the students in that class!
It wouldn’t be a proper blog roundup without mentioning Sweet Tooth. UConn dental student Erica never disappoints and has even guest blogged here at MO a couple times! This blog is a staff favorite and full of delicious ideas for your next baking adventure. We’ve been following her for quite a while and she’s really picked up some blogging steam. I think I need to try her grilled berry pizza for one of these hot summer nights!
Laura, a dental student at the Ohio State also blogs about food at Cavities & Cravings. I would love to try her Nutella stuffed chocolate chip cookies!
And just one more…does your dean have a blog? ASDOH’s does! You can follow Dr. Jack Dillenberg here.
