The winter edition of Mouth has hit your mailboxes and is available to read online!
In this issue, we focus on special care dentistry with articles on topics such as treating patients with autism, geriatric populations and prison dentistry. The vice president of the Special Care Dentistry Association, Dr. Jason Grinter, discusses the challenges that patients with special needs face and the passion he has for treating them in his article. Author Roshan Patel from Florida continues the discussion on patients with special needs in his article “Making patients with special needs a part of your practice”.
In the second half of Mouth, you’ll find the usual articles on career transition, predentals and financial matters. For those interested in specializing, don’t miss Kylee Ferris’ “Guide to postdoctoral training” and predentals need to read Katie Sleeper’s article on “Navigating predental forums”.
If you can’t wait for your print copy of January ASDA News to arrive, go online to view the digital copy live now! The lead story summarizes the changes dentistry can expect and adapt for given last year’s election outcomes.
I wrote the editorial this month about a TED talk by Derek Sivers. Watch his talk below on why you might want to keep your New Year’s resolutions to yourself this year.(If you’re reading this in a subscriber e-mail, click here to view the video.) Here’s the PubMed link to the psychology study I cite in the article as well: “When Intentions Go Public: Does Social Reality Widen the Intention-Behavior Gap?”
Thanks for reading ASDA’s print publications. Don’t forget that the digital editions are free and open to the public–so you can share your favorite articles with faculty, friends and even family. And remember that you can be an author too if you’re an ASDA member! Just click here and tell us you’re story ideas and you could be published in ASDA News, Mouth or on this blog.
