If you’re reading Mouthing Off, you’re probably into dentistry. I try to keep up with the blogosphere to make sure we’re doing a good job.
One must read blog is Excursives, authored by Dr. Ryan Dulde. Ryan is a former ASDA leader and a budding leadership guru. His blog is quite dentaly but also offers tips on soft skills, presentation style and leadership. Check out this post he recently published on achieving flow, when high skill levels are paired with high levels of challenge. I read about flow while training for my first marathon, but Ryan takes it out of the athletic arena and into the board room, the dental practice or wherever you’re looking for focused success.
Excursives isn’t all advice and inspiration…it’s also funny. I laughed out loud when I read the post, I’m a dentist and that’s not funny! (or is it?). If you’re looking for a comprehensive Youtube list of dental references, you have to read this post. Bill Cosby, Obama, David Letterman (spanning multiple decades) and even The Carol Burnett Show have all been tapped for dental references or digs or jokes. But my favorite was the list of things strangers may say when you introduce yourself…like this:
5) Stranger removes denture from mouth for an on-the-spot consult. My personal favorite. A homeless man named “Two Feathers” pulled this one on me at a Starbucks while I was studying for my DAT.
