ASDA’s webinars will keep you up-to-date on the latest in dentistry

There is no denying that technology touches almost every aspect of our lives. The dental field is no different–it is constantly advancing due to all aspects of technology. However, it would be short-sighted to attempt to discuss this topic in totality because it is too expansive to cover here. Furthermore, who am I to inform you of the latest in dentistry? We are peers and generally have similar dental experiences thus far. Not to mention the information won’t be the latest by the time this is published!

Luckily, information on technological advances in dentistry are out there. The fact that you are reading this displays an eagerness to learn about them. In think an active approach to professional development is what will set you apart from other students when competing for those coveted dental school seats.

For instance, did you know cone beam radiography is becoming more widely used, thus increasing the demand for dental radiologists? Or which types of lasers can be used for which dental procedures? What I recommend to stay updated on the latest in dentistry is to read publications like Dental Town and Dental Economics (both are free in print and on-line) and even ASDA’s Mouth and the science snippets in ASDA News. You should also subscribe to blogs and websites like DrBiscupid.com.

The best opportunities to acquire new information on the dental field are ASDA webinars. What a fabulous and effortless way to learn about what’s happening in the profession! ASDA hosts excellent topics on practice management, wellness and advocacy.

Although most of us are busy with school work, routinely using these resources to understand dentistry will be a substantial addition to your dental school essays and interviews. The admissions committee wants to know that you understand dentistry is holistic, not only from a patient care standpoint, but it also includes managing people, relationships, business and leadership skills.

It is likely that “the latest in dentistry” will change not long after this blog is published. But what won’t change is what you should do to learn more about dentistry and strengthen your dental school application.

Read, ask questions and seek information. Be active in your personal and professional development. And, of course, attend ASDA webinars! Luckily, there’s an ASDA webinar for predentals tonight. See the details below:

Everyone has their preconceived notions about what dentistry is. General dentists drill and fill, endodontists work under high magnification and “tinker” all day, orthodontists straighten teeth and OMFS operate. Well, similar to other professions, dentistry is constantly adapting, developing and advancing. This webinar will discuss some of the ways dentistry is evolving in scope with the help of technology to provide better oral health care to patients. This promises to be a very informative session and one that will enlighten attendees on trending and niche aspects of dentistry just in time for interview season. The session will also include a 30-minute Q&A session with the panelists.

This webinar is a presentation of ASDA Predental Week.
