If you are anything like me, the Dental Admission Test (DAT) brings back stressful memories of hours upon hours of studying. There were cubes and keyholes, phylums and double bonds, sine and cosine. They were all appearing to be an intellectual tangent to what we would actually need to know in dental school. Now that we have managed to suppress the memory of the DAT, it seems to be back with a vengeance, known as the Advanced Dental Admission Test (ADAT). So what is this Advanced DAT and how will it affect you? This brand new exam is meant for those applying to advanced dental education or residency programs. I have compiled a few simple facts to help you navigate this new test. (Deep breathe in… and out… Here we go!)
Designing your ideal dental office (& a giveaway!)
Like many dental students, I dream about the day I can finally design my own dental office. It is the day I can say I finally made it. This opportunity will allow me the autonomy to practice the way I want in an environment that is unique to my style. But the question is, where would I begin? Dental school, which focuses on the scientific and clinical aspects of dentistry, does not provide students with a lot of practice management education, let alone any advice on designing an effective dental office.

You can read more about this program in the winter issue of Mouth, available online now.
Is teledentistry and the virtual dental home the future of dentistry? While only time will tell, this model serves as an attempt to address dentistry’s barriers to care issue. But before we can look into its efficacy, we are faced with the question: Is this model ethical?
