What do you get when you mix a sweet tooth with dental nerdiness? A delicious treat that’s sure to impress your whole clinic.
If you’ve got some free time, or you just want to put off that last lecture you need to review, here’s a simple recipe to procrastinate bake with!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of crushed graham crackers
- 1/2 stick of butter (melted)
- 1 pinch of cinnamon
- 1 stick of cream cheese
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 1 cup of sour cream
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
- black decorating icing
Cookware:
- 1 rectangular silicone mold
- mixing bowl
- hand mixer or stand-up mixer
- casserole dish or roasting pan
- spatula and whisk
- measuring cups
- tooth shaped cookie cutter (I bought mine at the National Museum of Dentistry, but you can get a similar one on Etsy)
Directions:
- Create the crust by whisking together the crushed graham crackers with the butter and cinnamon. Spoon a portion into each mold and press down to spread it into the corners.
- Use your hand mixer on a low speed to combine your cream cheese and sugar until smooth.
- Add in the sour cream, egg and vanilla extract and mix on a medium speed. Scrape down the sides with your spatula so that its evenly combined.
- Spoon the mixture on top of the crust. Remember, cheesecake doesn’t rise like other cakes, so you can fill these up to the top!
- Fill your roasting pan or casserole dish with water about halfway up. Place this in your oven as it preheats to 325º. Once preheated, carefully place the silicone mold in the water (it should float).
- Bake for 27 minutes, then carefully remove the silicone mold from the pan. Allow it to cool to room temperature for 1 hour and then chill in the fridge for 3 hours.
- Separate the cheesecakes from the flexible silicone mold by gently pulling at the edges and popping them out from the bottom. Once you’ve pulled all the rectangles out, carefully use your cookie cutter to cut out a tooth shape out of each. Tip: if you wash the cookie cutter between cuts, its easier to separate the next one.
- This is the fun part: Decorate your cheesecake with icing and enjoy!
