Like every fourth-year dental student, Farhan Momin, Midwestern-Illinois ’19, hopes to graduate soon and begin his professional career. Make your snacks work for you
I enjoy snacking. Even though I know all about tooth decay, there are still some times when I crave a sweet, sugary snack. It is important to remember that while those treats are accessible, comforting and delicious, they don’t always leave us in our best condition. The right snack can make a long study session a little more tolerable or provide a much needed energy boost to get through an evening of lab work. It’s obvious that fruits, vegetables and whole grains are the healthy options we should be striving for, but when you have these snacks is also important.
Easy recipes for the on-the-go dental student
If there’s one thing a dental student can never have too many of, it’s easy, nutritious recipes that are quick to make. Muffins are a perfect breakfast for those early school mornings and up the nutrients with the addition of oat flour and fruit. Burrito bowls are great for weeknight dinners because they’re fast, fresh and can save a lot of money instead of going to your favorite chain. Below are two of my favorites for simple, on-the-go meals and snacks.
Finding a better study snack

Especially when you’re stressed, planning healthy snacks can seem like one more thing you don’t have time to deal with. Here are some of our favorite picks for satisfying munchies that won’t make you regret it later! Calorie estimates come from the USDA’s SuperTracker website, which can be found
