Have you been asked the proverbial “where will you be in 5 years?” It’s a tough question, but many new grads are looking to join a group practice. The problem lies in that group practices are lumped together, yet each type of practice could not be more different. Before you sign a contract read the proposed classification system and nomenclature for different types of group practices so you can get an idea of how you would like to practice. The most recent addition is the Group Practice Forum, that provides a video series on the six different classes of group practices. They give you examples, pro’s, con’s and a true insight on what life is like for dentists in a group practice.
The Center for Professional Success is constantly being updated with content on how to prevent back pain or hearing loss, or why flossing is like exercise! On the more serious side they also offer updates on insurance, practice management, continuing education and mental wellness.
As a senior, I felt a sigh of relief knowing that the ADA has my back. When you have questions, look for answers on CPS, and if you can’t find it, let someone at the ADA know. The only way we can grow stronger as a profession and an organization is by hearing what you have to say.
